WBC Provides Workforce Resources to Chicago’s Latinx Community

WBC & Univision Chicago Partner to Educate, Inform & Empower

COVID-19 has affected our Hispanic communities and Latinx-owned businesses disproportionately. From public health, testing and treatment to business and workforce issues – the perfect storm presented. To help alleviate information related challenges, WBC partnered with Univision Chicago, the region’s top-rated Hispanic TV and radio network to share news, resources, and trusted subject-matter experts on a host of topics important to overcoming COVID-19 implications.

Throughout the month of May, WBC has connected Univision’s viewers, listeners, and followers to experts in the mayor’s office, City of Chicago Business Affairs and Consumer Protection, The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership and other workforce development and community resource partners across the city.  The partnership involves weekly co-branded on-air and online news segments, Facebook Live town halls and social media posts.

This partnership was conceived in March when the news team at Univision Chicago mentioned to WBC that they regularly turned to ChiBizHub’s COVID-19 Resources Page for news to share with their audience at the onset of the pandemic. It was decided to bring our COVID-19 support page to life on-air and online as a way to educate, inform and empower the community with information and resources, they can trust, for federal, state and city resources, support and information.

If you know of an organization working to uplift, empower and support our Latinx community in Chicago, please let us know.
