Abe’s Market Moves Corporate Headquarters to Chicago to Accomodate Expanding Technology Business

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Abe’s Market announced today that the company will move its headquarters to Chicago this month, as the natural goods ecommerce site continues its path of growth and expansion.

“I welcome Abe’s Market to Chicago and commend the company on its choice of Chicago for its corporate headquarters,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Chicago has the workforce talent that will help them further their business, and our business environment will welcome this growing technology company as it creates job opportunities throughout the city of Chicago.”

The announcement of the corporate headquarters relocation comes as the national unemployment figure dipped to 7.8 percent today, the lowest it has been since January 2009. Over 870,000 Americans gained employment in the last month.

Abe’s Market, an ecommerce company specializing in natural and organic products, will move its headquarters and open in River North. With an eye to be part of a bigger tech community with access to talent to support their growth plans, Abe’s Market will use its new Chicago location to expand its online business.

Abe’s Market will occupy 3,400 square-feet in River North, located at 430 W Erie. The company will bring 15-20 jobs to Chicago in the next few months.

The City of Chicago is focused on attracting corporate headquarters as part of the Plan for Economic Growth and Jobs, produced by World Business Chicago earlier this year at Mayor Emanuel’s request. Abe’s Market joins McGladrey, Federal Savings Bank, GE Transportation, ThyssenKrupp, Sara Lee, Sagence Partners, and Motorola Mobility as companies that have decided to relocate their corporate or North American Headquarters to the city. World Business Chicago worked extensively with Abe’s Market to help the company move to Chicago and find a suitable location for its headquarters.

Mayor Emanuel has stood with more than 50 companies that have announced nearly 25,000 jobs in Chicago during his tenure.
