Chicago-based Xaptum has raised $2.2 million in seed funding, the Internet of Things company announced from the stage Thursday at the Chicago Venture Summit.

Xaptum builds infrastructure that lets connected devices message each other. Apps that use Xaptum include parking space sensors, real-time roadside assistance, digital signage and crime analytics.
