Earlier this month, World Business Chicago’s President and CEO, Andrea Zopp led a Chicago delegation to Bogotá with Chicago Sister Cities International (CSCI) team to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the sister city relationship. Among the trips diplomatic highlights included a reception at Galeria La Cometa and a visit to San Viator High School where the team spoke to 90 female students about our Global Youth Ambassadors Leadership Program in hopes of broadening the Bogotá applicant base in 2020.
During the trip, WBC solidified our global relationships through discussions with the Bogotá Mayor’s office, including the Secretary of Economic Development for the City of Bogotá, the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, Bogotá Regional Commission on Competitiveness in Science, Technology and Innovation and Bogotá’s aqueduct and sewer company (Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá – EAAB) on the Bogotá river program and Canoas plant.
Additionally, Andrea Zopp had the opportunity to present to AmCham Colombia (American Chamber of Commerce Colombia) on Chicago’s tech ecosystem. In fact, the AmCham team visited Chicago at the end of this month with a delegation of software, tech and innovation companies interested in exploring Chicago’s tech scene. AmCham visited companies including 1871, MATTER, mHub and UI Labs.
