Chicago Named Number Two in North America for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Strategy
FDI Magazine Ranked Top North American Cities for FDI Strategy
Chicago was named the number two city in North America for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Strategy in 2018 – 2019 by FDI Magazine, second only to New York. FDI Magazine is a publication of the Financial Times that provides a thorough review of global investment activity.
Chicago received the ranking primarily due to new initiatives to attract investment, strong international relationships, and the growing tech and innovation sector.
World Business Chicago’s Director of Internal Business Development traveled to the International Economic Development meeting in Indianapolis earlier this month to receive the award.
The award comes on the heels of the 2019 IBM Global Location Trends report which named Chicago the North American leader in Foreign Direct Investment for the seventh year in a row. The annual report, which outlines the latest trends in corporate location selection, named Chicago the top North American metro in foreign direct investment projects.
