WBC is looking for a Finance Director to join our nonprofit organization and lead our financial operations and strategy. As a Finance Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the budgeting, forecasting, reporting, auditing, compliance, and risk management of our organization. You will also work closely with the executive team and the board of directors to provide financial guidance and insights for strategic decision-making. You will also collaborate with and manage WBC’s finance consulting team Hubbard Galbraith.

To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and at least 4 years of experience in senior financial management roles in nonprofit organizations. You should also have a CPA or CFA certification, and a proven track record of managing complex financial systems and processes. You should have excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills, and a passion for our mission and vision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute the organization’s financial strategy to achieve sustainable growth, profitability, and long-term financial stability.
- Lead the accounting, budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate and timely financial reports, analysis, and recommendations to support decision-making including financial reporting for the CEO, Finance Committee, Executive Committee, Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting and finance laws, regulations, and standards.
- Manage cash flow, investment strategies, and banking relationships to optimize liquidity and working capital.
- Create and maintain the general ledger accounts and ensure the accuracy of same.
- Prepare financial reports for grants and ensure proper accounting of grant revenue and expenses.
- Account for functional expenses for programming, administrative and fundraising for year-end reporting and internal analysis.
- Maintain fixed asset tracking, to ensure the proper accounting of fixed assets, including the proper application of depreciation.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Ensure the organization’s financial practices are in compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and internal policies.
- Analyze current processes for accounting and finance and recommend, document and implement agreed upon new processes and/or optimization of existing processes as/if appropriate.
- Develop and implement cost-control measures to optimize the organization’s operating efficiency.
- Prepare reports and forms for annual 1099 reporting.
- Prepare analysis and reports for the preparation of the annual 990 tax filing and lead the 990-preparation process.
- Lead the annual financial audit of the organization
- Collaborate with and manage WBC’s finance consulting team

- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
- Familiar with FASB 116 (ACCOUNTING FOR CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED AND CONTRIBUTIONS MADE (ISSUED 6/93) and FASB 117 (FINANCIAL STATEMENTS OF NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS (ISSUED 6/93)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in senior financial management roles in nonprofit organizations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, compliance, and reporting.
- Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel).
SALARY RANGE: $75,000 – $95,000
