This month, SC Johnson opened its North American regional headquarters in downtown Chicago. As a part of the move, approximately 175 employees will relocate from Racine, Wisconsin, to 550 W. Washington St.in Chicago. The company, whose products include Glade, Pledge and Scrubbing Bubbles, has approximately 13,000 employees worldwide, including about 2,250 in the Racine area.

“We already had a lot of SC Johnson people commuting all the way up to Racine every day,” said SC Johnson Chief Executive Fisk Johnson. “…there’s an incredible wealth of talent in [Chicago] and we felt it could open up new horizons for our company.”

Similarly, this month Mars, Incorporated announced its intent to combine its Chocolate and Wrigley segments to create Mars Wrigley Confectionery. The global hub for the new Mars Wrigley Confectionery business, which has approximately 30,000 associates worldwide, will be in Chicago.

“With today’s announcement by Mars, Chicago is now home to the world’s largest confectionery company. Mars Wrigley Confectionery could not have chosen a better city to establish their global hub,” said Mayor Emanuel. “Thanks to recent headquarters relocations by companies like McDonald’s, Kraft Heinz, ConAgra and Oscar Mayer, Chicago is staying at the forefront of the global economy, the center of the food industry, and the leading edge of the culinary world. I look forward to a sweeter future for Chicagoans and consumers everywhere and welcome Mars Wrigley Confectionery to Chicago.”
