World Business Chicago (WBC) is a public-private, non-profit partnership that drives inclusive economic growth and job creation, supports business, and promotes Chicago as a leading global city. 

Position Summary

The Business Development Associate is a full-time position that reports to the Executive Vice President of Business Development and Foreign Direct Investment (BDFDI). The responsibility of the Business Development Associate – Ecosystems will be to support the Business Development team’s operation.  

Responsibilities

  • Assist small businesses across all of Chicago’s 77 neighborhoods with their expansion and growth needs 
  • Manage the Business Development team’s response to requests for proposals (RFP) and requests for information (RFI) from partners like Intersect Illinois, brokers, and consultants 
  • Support the BDFDI unit by executing on all industry sector convenings and events 
  • Support WBC’s Directors of Business Development during site visits, roundtables, and virtual programming 
  • Prepare talking points and pitch materials for leadership  
  • Organize BDFDI mission trips coordinating all corresponding logistics 
  • Represent Chicago during international business delegations as appropriate 
  • Source appropriate bids and services to support BDFDI work
  • Conduct other related tasks and assignments not specified above

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 0-2 years of experience in economic development, strategic partnerships, business development, public administration, marketing, or a related field preferred. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, urban planning, public policy or related field
