Position Summary

The responsibility of the Event Manager will be to support World Business Chicago’s multiple teams (Business Development, Innovation & Venture, Research, Community Impact, Global Strategic Initiatives) in ideating and executing events that enhance our organization as a convener. This role’s primary function is to own all event logistics from start to finish, including but not limited to, researching and selecting the most appropriate vendors and venues, managing contracts, registration, etc. Many of our events are federally funded and therefore limitations apply. The Event Manager position is full-time.

Responsibilities

• Brainstorming with WBC team members and implementing event plans and concepts
• Researching and securing venues which includes using diverse vendors from all of Chicago’s neighborhoods
• Planning and managing World Business Chicago’s event calendar
• Negotiating quotes and agreements with vendors
• Assisting with event marketing
• Ensuring that events comply with insurance, health and safety standards
• Maintaing and monitoring both timelines and budgets
• Following federal guidelines for any federally funded events

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in event planning or similar role
• Associate degree preferred
